Purpose, Ego & Authenticity (Q & A)

“You don’t need to be better, you just need to be you. Letting yourself be you is the thing you’ve always been looking for.” – Boyd Varty

Let’s do a quick Q & A.

With The Art of Self Design closing tomorrow at midnight, I want to answer a few of the biggest questions that have rolled in over the past few days.

We’ll start and end with some logistical questions, but in-between we have some pretty profound teaching points.

(pay especially close attention to questions 3, 4, and 5…)

Let’s begin:

***

1. What if I can’t make the live calls?

Not a huge issue, since you will have lifetime access to the recordings.

(and every recording will be available as soon as the live sessions is over, so you won’t need to wait)

I can also guide you within the online community, and answer your questions there — so as long as you complete the program, you’ll do great either way.

2. Do I need to complete the program within the next few weeks, while you’re teaching it live?

Of course not; you’re free to go through the recordings at your own pace.

Just be sure to ask questions when you need guidance.

3. How will I know whether I am designing myself authentically, or based on my ego?

The short answer is, I will guide you to finding authentic answers within the program.

The longer answer is, everything we know as ourselves is ego.

Our entire identity structure is ego — to not have an ego is to not have an individual sense of self, which renders life pointless.

So ego is not the problem:

A poorly designed ego that needs outside validation to feel good about itself is the problem.

So the process of Self Design involves building a strong, stable, healthy ego that is self-reliant, self-authored, and fully confident being itself.

4. Wouldn’t transcending the ego for enlightenment mean not needing to design ourselves at all, because we aren’t attached to any sense of self?

“Transcending” means to include and go beyond.

So enlightenment (ie. transcendence of the ego) doesn’t mean losing your ego — it means going beyond the ego.

Only a healthy ego can safely let go into what is beyond itself, so developing a strong, stable sense of self is actually the first step to letting go of the “self.”

(the paradox is that the process of self design reveals the “self” to be a mental construct, which in turn deconstructs it)

5. What if I don’t know my purpose? How can I design who I want to be if I haven’t discovered my purpose yet?

Here’s the trick:

You always have a purpose.

Purpose is not an end destination, it is an evolving process, and we are never not in it — but we can get disconnected from it.

So in Module 1, we’ll use a process called guided self-inquiry to reconnect you to your current purpose, and bring a deep sense of clarity and direction to your life.

6. If I can’t join now, when will you re-open the program?

No solid plans yet, but I think we’ll re-open it sometime next year, at its full price of $395.

(all subject to change)

7. Do you have a payment plan?

Yes, we have two options:

1 payment of $295 ($100 discount)

2 payments of $147.50 ($100 discount)

In the second option, payments are 30 days apart.

Alright, I think that covers it 🙂

Have an awesome night over there, and hit reply if you have any questions that weren’t answered above.
