You gonna make it?

“All battles are fought by scared men who’d rather be someplace else.” – John Wayne

Here’s the thing about “making it” nobody talks about:

Before you “make it” (whatever that means to you), you have to go through a period of not having made it yet.

And during that period, you won’t know if you’ll ever make it, because — yep:

You haven’t made it yet.

You can’t know because it hasn’t happened, and you won’t know if it will ever happen until it does.

In other words:

Certainty doesn’t exist.

We all enter the dark tunnel without knowing if there’s light at the other end.

We all start climbing the mountain without knowing if we’ll ever reach the summit.

We all talk to the girl without knowing if she’ll like us back, start the business without knowing if it’ll become profitable, shoot the shot before we know it’ll go in.

That’s the game we play, and if every shot went in, it wouldn’t be worth playing.

So my advice is simple:

Shut up and shoot.
