“The big money is not in the buying and selling, but in the waiting.” – Charlie Munger
First, an item of business:
If you replied with interest for our new membership The Path, you’ll be getting a private email from me later today.
We’re doing a soft open this week, and only accepting a small group of members — so if you want in, keep an eye on your inbox.
Second, I got an email from a reader yesterday that inspired an important lesson about playing the long game, and what it really takes to succeed in the modern world:
“Honestly, it’s been crazy seeing few hundreds of views on videos that are absolutely top of the chain knowledge and a different level!! Awesome to hear it’s finally taking off a bit. The world needs to hear this stuff!!” – Niklas J.
Niklas is talking, of course, about our new YT channel.
And I owe a huge (huge) thanks to Niklas and to everyone who has been liking, commenting, etc to help support this work.
And while I agree (damn right we are on a different level), I should also add:
A few hundred views per video, at this stage, is actually kind of awesome.
We just started posting consistently 4-6 weeks ago, and already have nearly 800 subs and ~250-500 views per video.
One of our recent videos hit 2,000 views, which is ~2.5x our subscriber count.
That’s dope.
After growing the EGT / DeepGame channel to 638k subscribers and 67MM total views, I’ll tell you right now:
This stuff takes time.
Those who succeed are those who think on long time horizons, who play to win 5-10 years from now and don’t sweat the weekly and monthly numbers along the way.
Of course, some channels / businesses / creators do blow up quickly, but they are almost always:
* Riding a trend (ie. AI, crypto), or
* Paying for viewership (ie. ads, sponsors), or
* Freaks of nature (ie. Sam Sulek), or
* All of the above.
For the rest of us, slow and steady growth is the name of the game.
Growth that looks something like bamboo:
Planting seeds that spread deep into the ground, laying a solid, stable root system for years without showing visible results…
…Until one day, it breaks ground and rockets towards the sky, growing up to a meter per day and expanding to full, towering height in just two months.
That’s why, when they do reach full height, bamboo is one of the strongest, most resilient plants in the world:
Able to flex and bend against extreme winds and storms without fear of breaking.
(crazy fact: bamboo has a stronger strength-to-weight ratio than steel)
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with wanting results, as long as we adjust the time horizon we’re measuring those results on.
Apply this to your work, your relationships, your body, your mind, and any other growth metric you’re currently tracking.
You might be shocked at how quickly you see results when you pursue them slowly.

P.S. One more huge thank you to Niklas for the support, and for inspiring this lesson.
And the same, of course, to everyone who has been liking, commenting, subscribing, sharing, and supporting this work in so many ways.
This is my life purpose, and it’s you who allow me to live it.
So again, and always, thank you.
