Our retreat recordings are on sale until tomorrow night. Grab them here before we close up shop.
This morning has been weird.
It started out well enough…
I woke up at 5, meditated for an hour, and hit the coffee shop with bright eyes and a long list of ideas for today’s email.
Then I sat down, and…
Rubbish.
I actually wrote half of three different emails, and chucked them all because nothing was flowing.
Instead of a smooth stream of thought, my words felt like scrambled puzzle pieces that wouldn’t click into place.
I’m tempted to force it.
But (golden rule) nature doesn’t make mistakes.
And if the words won’t come, there’s a reason for that.
Maybe the ideas aren’t fully-formed yet, and will be more potent in a few days.
Maybe you would be more receptive to those particular ideas later in the week.
Or maybe I just need a day off?
I’d like to know the reason, I don’t need to.
My job isn’t to steer the ocean, it’s to ride the wave I’m on.
If the wave wants to move South, who am I to tell it West is best?
And if the waves wanna stop being so wavy and chill for a change, maybe I should stop splashing around and enjoy the stillness.
Nature doesn’t make mistakes, after all.
Flow states don’t happen by forcing the flow our way; they happen when we relax into the flow and let it carry us.
Which — waddaya know — just happened with this email 🙂
We stopped fighting against the current, and it carried us somewhere valuable.
At least, it was valuable for me.
I hope it was for you too.
If you’d like to go a little deeper, here’s a quick 2 minute clip from our retreat where I spoke about this principle live.
Short, but powerful.
Alright, that was fun 🙂
I’m gonna grab one more oat milk cappuccino, hit an outdoor workout, and gear up to watch UFC London this afternoon.
How good is life…
I hope you have an amazing one over there as well.
You deserve it.
