“The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive. It is not that you use your mind wrongly – you usually don’t use it at all. It uses you. The instrument has taken you over.” – Eckhart Tolle
What is self-mastery?
Serious question:
I know we use those words (“self” and “mastery”) a lot around here, but, like…
What actually is it?
Simple answer:
“Mastery” = You are in control.
“Self” = Your mind (ie. your beliefs, thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and everything else you think of as “yourself”)
Therefore:
Self-Mastery means you are in control of your own mind…
Which also means, importantly:
Your mind is not in control of you.
This is the precise opposite of the standard human condition, where:
1. Our beliefs are programmed by the world around us before we’re old enough to choose them for ourselves…
Which then create:
2. Thoughts that swirl uncontrollably and often turn negative without warning…
Which then create:
3. Feelings that jam up our nervous system causing tension and discomfort…
Which then create:
4. Behaviours that are reactive, clouded and dysfunctional…
Which then create — you guessed it:
Your life as you know it.
Welcome to the default human predicament:
You are at the mercy of your own mind, which has been shaped and molded and programmed by the world around you, and your destiny is out of your control.
Until, of course, you take it back:
1. You de-program yourself, and develop clear, rational, independent belief systems that reflect the life you actually want to live…
2. You purify and transform your thinking patterns, and develop supreme control of your awareness…
3. You regulate your emotions and develop the rare ability to feel strong feelings without reacting to them, and to turn those feelings into pure, productive energy…
And:
4. You build the self-control to take the right actions at the right time, regardless of your thoughts or feelings or circumstances.
In other words:
You master yourself.
If there is a more important goal in human life, I’m not sure what it is — because everything:
Your work, your relationships, your finances, your health, your performance, your happiness, your life itself…
…Everything is determined by your level of self-mastery.

I spent a decade searching all over the world for something like this — and it simply doesn’t exist.
So we’re building it, together.
