“There are only three answers to a prayer: yes, not yet, and ‘I have something else in mind for you.’” – Elsa Dutton, 1923
Happy new year.
I’m writing to you from Costa Rica at the halfway point of a two week plant medicine retreat.
Things are going well, here.
A little wild in spots…
(I had to save someone’s life two days ago, after he was stung by 7 hornets, went into anaphylactic shock and stopped breathing — story for another day)
…But wild things tend to happen when you’re guiding 20 people through an intense healing process.
I had planned to take a few more days off before returning to online work, but I woke up this morning itching to get back to it.
Yes, January 1st is just another day.
An imaginary reset point, mostly arbitrary, that provides the illusion of a fresh start.
But imagination is powerful.
And if an arbitrary calendar date can kickstart our mind and spark fresh action, it’d be silly not to take advantage of it.
So, here’s my advice:
Take a moment right now (yes, right now), and call to mind your most important goal for 2025.
Now imagine yourself having accomplished it, one year from today.
See it, touch it, smell it, taste it.
Saturate your mind with the feeling of bringing your vision to life, and allow the surge of fresh energy to flow through you.
Then, do something that moves you towards your goal.
It can be a big step or a small step, but it must be a step forward.
Repeat daily for the rest of the year (or, for as long as it takes) and it will be hard not to achieve it.
Happy January 1st y’all.
Let’s get to work.
– T
