Inputs vs Outputs

“Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people.” – Henry Thomas Buckle

Yesterday, we spoke about a simple universal rule:

Whatever we put our attention on grows.

(ie. focusing on negative perspectives generates more negative perspectives, focusing on positive perspectives generates more positive perspectives)

Here’s one more application of that rule:

The quality of your inputs — the stuff you put into your mind; media, books, ideas…

Will largely determine the quality of your outputs — the stuff you make with your mind; your work, your projects, your life.

So if you want to…

…Think better, follow great thinkers.

…Create great art, observe great art.

…Become funnier, watch funny stuff.

It’s not an exact correlation, but it’s damn close:

Gold in, gold out — crap in, crap out.

Our mind feeds on ideas just like our body feeds on food, so choose what you put into your head the same way you choose what you put into your body:

Wisely.
