“The struggle to obtain a reward teaches us the reward’s worth, and is thus a crucial part of the reward” – Gurwinder Bhogal
I’m writing to you from the airport as I wait to board a flight to Costa Rica.
I’ll spend the next two weeks deep in the jungle, running a plant medicine retreat for a group of ~20 practitioners.
My plan is to unplug from online work for the next 5-7 days:
To rest, reset, reload, and get ready to come out swinging in 2025.
So, this is it:
Our final email of 2024.
And what a 2024 it’s been.
It’s been a year of less thinking, more doing…
…And as I write this, I’m realizing I haven’t taken time to properly reflect on everything that happened along the way:
- Ran ten retreats, including our best summer retreat so far.
- Completed a one-month solo retreat.
- Launched The Path, built our library to nearly 100 hours of content, and cultivated one of the coolest communities of practitioners I’ve ever been a part of. A genuine honor.
- Launched three new courses (Jing, Precision Thinking, and 2k25)
- Finally retired DeepGame, and completed my transition out of the basketball world.
That’s a win.
It’s also only the beginning.
In 2024, we laid a foundation.
In 2025, we build.
But first, we rest 🙂
Have an amazing holiday over there, and I’ll meet you on the other side.

P.S. Some quick holiday recommendations before I take off…
Watch: Taylor Sheridan’s Catalogue
I’ve been speed-running his shows over the past two months.
Dude doesn’t miss.
Here’s the order I’d watch them in:
- Yellowstone
- 1883 (my personal favorite)
- 1923
- Lioness
- Landman
All bangers.
(I also just stumbled across this 5 minute mini-documentary on Sheridan, well worth watching)
Read: Theft of Fire by Devon Eriksen
This might be my favorite book of the year.
I plan to read it again during this trip.
(he also has the best Twitter / X feed I’ve come across so far)
Listen: Matters of the Heart Podcast
A former relationship coach of mine, Annie Lalla, just launched a new podcast.
If you want advanced advice from a skilled practitioner who treats relationships as an arena for self-development:
Annie is the best there is.
Highly, highly recommended.
And a final recommendation:
One day during the holidays, sit down with a cup of coffee and a notebook (or your laptop), and spend 60-90 minutes looking back over your year.
Celebrate your wins.
Integrate your lessons.
Leave behind what weighs you down and carry forward what lifts you up.
The insights might surprise you.
I wish you a beautiful holiday.
