Feeling lost is a sign of progress

“We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” – All of today’s quotes are from Joseph Campbell

Here’s one of the stranger paradoxes of the inner development game:

Feeling lost is a sign of progress.

If you’re unsure of your path, struggling to find direction, looking for deeper purpose but don’t know where to find it…

…You’re already a step ahead of most of society.

Here’s how it goes:

1. Follow the path that has been laid out for you.

(“If you can see your path laid out in front of you… You know it’s not your path.”)

2. Step off the path of society to find your own unique path, and immediately feel lost because now you’re off-road without a map.

(“You enter the forest at the darkest point, where there is no path. Where there is a way or a path, it is someone else’s. If you follow someone else’s way, you are not going to realize your potential.”)

3. Begin trailblazing your own unique path, using your own inner guidance to point the way.

(“The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.”)

So if you’re feeling lost, welcome:

You’re officially in the game.

The big question now is whether you will turn back to the comfort of the path well-travelled — or, will you “say a hearty yes to your adventure.”

The next step — and every step after that — is up to you.
