“It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” – Jiddu Krishnamurti
Yesterday, we finally touched on the way-too-touchy topic of sexuality.
(here’s the clip, if you missed it)
I haven’t spoken about this publicly until now, which is funny since sexuality is — by far — the most asked-about topic at our live retreats and inside our Path membership.
And, a simple understanding of your sexual energy…
…How it works, how to manage it, how to cultivate it, and, most importantly, how to not let it run your life…
…Is foundational, not only for inner development but for basic health, wellness, and vitality.
As an example:
During my 18 month plant medicine apprenticeship, I wasn’t allowed to engage in sexual activity of any kind:
Not with a partner, not with myself, not in my thoughts, and ideally, not even in my dreams.
(that last one took some time to get the hang of…)
Not because “No Fap is da TrUtH” but because sexual energy transmutes into spiritual energy when it isn’t engaged with or released for a period of time.
(there’s lesson #1)
And honestly, it got pretty easy after a while:
It just stopped being on my mind.
But then it never really came back, and a year after finishing that stage of my apprenticeship I started to get a little worried.
So I told my teacher:
“I don’t feel motivated by sex anymore. I rarely think about it unless I’m engaging with a partner, or I make myself think about it.
When it gets activated, the energy is even stronger than before — I feel much more healthy and capable now.
But unless I’m actively engaged with it, sex is never really on my mind.”
His response:
“Dude, that’s how it’s supposed to be.”
He explained:
Our society is massively perverted.
We’ve made sex so taboo that people literally giggle when we talk about it (are you giggling right now?)…
…Yet it dominates almost all of our motivations.
It doesn’t take much thought to realize:
We’re not supposed to be thinking about sex all the time.
We’re not supposed to be mentally undressing every person we cross paths with on the street.
We’re not supposed to be plugging into porn every night before bed.
We’re not supposed to desperately reach to release every tiny bit of pressure that builds up in our genitals.
And we’re definitely not supposed to be this shy and uncomfortable and touchy and triggered about the one thing we all have in common, the one thing that brought us into this world and drives the survival of the entire human race.
Yes, sexuality is mission-critical.
Without it, we don’t exist.
So if there is anything worth developing a healthy, well-adjusted relationship with, it is your sexuality.
That means knowing how to:
– Break dysfunctional sexual habits
– Build your sexual energy in a healthy way
– Develop control over your sexual energy
– Find radically deeper pleasure
…All of which will:
– Make you more attractive (stronger sexual energy = stronger polarity between you whoever you are attracted to)
– Make you significantly more capable and skilled with a partner
– Make you more creative, driven, and energetic
…And, perhaps most importantly:
– Make you healthier.
Remember, sexual energy is life force itself:
So the stronger and healthier your sexual energy, the stronger and healthier you are.
If you’re member of The Path, check out our 2023 retreat recordings to learn a set of techniques for building & managing sexual energy in a healthy way.
We’ll also have more clips coming on this topic next month, and if response is strong, I’ll write more about it in the future.
Today, my main goal is to drive this point home:
Developing a healthy, functional relationship to your sexuality will transform every dimension your life.
Period, full stop.
But the world isn’t going to teach you how to do this, and if you let it, it will pull you back into perversion and dysfunction at every turn.
So it’s all on you:
Open your mind, steel your willpower, and bring your body back under your own control.
Whew, that was a lot.
Let me know if you’d like to go deeper in the future.
