“If I can predict all of your beliefs from one of your beliefs, you’re not a serious thinker.” – Chris Williamson
Happy Friday.
Our Costa Rica retreat wrapped up a couple days ago, and I just landed in Peru to facilitate another two week retreat.
(what a way to start 2025…)
I’m feeling pretty cooked, so this first weekend recommendation seems extra appropriate:
Have A Hard Year
This new Nike commercial just popped up on my feed.
And, while I found it kind of hilarious…
…I couldn’t help but feel kind of fired up, too.

The Long-Term Results Of Intensive Meditation
A beautiful article about the benefits — and, unexpected trade-offs — of long-term, intensive meditation.
(~45 minutes per day or more)
Deeply resonated with me.
One highlight:
“But there is also a really interesting downside, which is that lots of people will find it alienating that you are not default worried. Collectively freaking out about things is a big part of human bonding. People enjoy worrying together.”
Finally, A Multi-Dimensional Political Philosophy
While most of the world turns politics into a glorified dog and pony show; a flat, two-dimensional contest in which one side is right so the other must be wrong…
…It is rare to find a political philosophy that:
- Considers all sides.
- Deconstructs the current paradigm.
- Reconstructs a new paradigm using logic and reason rather than emotion and bias.
Of course:
That doesn’t mean he’s right about everything, or that you should agree with him.
The real beauty of this talk is not his political philosophy, it is his thinking process.
Refreshing.
BONUS: Never apologize for being dope.
Got tons of responses to this email when it dropped on Wednesday.
Glad to hear it hit home for so many of you.
Remember:
“False modesty is a lie.”
Okay, I’m off to get some rest before our group lands in Peru tomorrow.
Enjoy your weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday.

P.S. No email on Monday, as I’ll be busy getting our group settled in at the retreat center.
After that, my plan is to write daily emails as usual.
But, as they say, no plan survives execution…
Especially when you’re in the middle of the Amazon jungle.
So be patient with me if we miss a day or three.
The journey continues…
