“Whoever can generate the best output with AI, in the shortest time, will win.” – Becoming Future Proof

I probably shouldn’t have done this.

But during a retreat I was running a few months ago, I fell into an AI debate with one of the participants.

Her main point:

“I don’t want to use AI.”

“Fair enough,” I said (you do you).

Not fair enough, however, was her second point:

“…And neither should anybody else.”

That’s when I knuckled up.

“And why, exactly, is that?”

“Well,” she said, “AI is bad for the environment. It uses too many resources and also capitalism and Elon Musk and stuff.”

Okay, I actually don’t disagree there.

AI is using a scary amount of resources, right now.

And the nightmarish possibility of half the earth being covered in data centers that power our AI overlords is not exactly my idea of utopia.

(more on this in the PS…)

But here’s the problem:

“Like it or not, using — and mastering — AI is no longer optional.”

Entrepreneurs who know how to use AI can move ~10x faster than those who don’t:

Radically accelerating the scaling process, and snatching market share from business who are still stuck in manual.

Meanwhile:

Employees who know how to use AI can handle the workload of 3-5 employees…

Making themselves 3-5x more valuable than everyone else on the workforce.

(Spotify just made AI a required competency at their company — how long do you think it will take everyone else to follow?)

Bottom line:

AI is a fast-forward button on progress.

And not using it is simply not an option, anymore.

It’s too fast, too powerful, too… inevitable.

So that’s what I told her.

I don’t know if she started learning AI, but I know she understood.

The signs are too obvious to ignore any longer.

After spending the past six months deep in the AI rabbit hole, I’ve come to a simple conclusion:

AI is the single most important skill to master in the modern era.

And those who master AI — now, while we’re still at the base of the change — are about to have the biggest unfair advantage in human history.

That’s why, at our August retreat, we spent ~8 hours deep-diving:

  • The critical fundamentals of AI
  • Advanced prompt engineering
  • Unlocking the full power of modern AI tools
  • Future-proofing yourself against the rise of AI automation
  • The future of AI & humanity

And much more.

The recordings were just released to members of The Path, and if you’d like to check them out:

Here’s where you can join The Path today.

It’s been closed to new members for the past few months, and will close again on Thursday at midnight.

I hope we see you inside.

P.S. On the (very real) problem of AI & the environment…

Sam Altman (CEO of OpenAI & ChatGPT) is among the largest investors in nuclear fusion technology, which could finally move humanity beyond fossil fuels and provide nearly-limitless clean energy.

So, in a roundabout way…

AI could end up solving the environmental problems AI is currently contributing to.

Funny how that works…
