“The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Got something special to share with you today.
Path member and coaching client Gianfranco Filice is a killer:
- Graduated from Stanford top of his class
- Immediately landed a top role at a VC firm
- Made partner at that VC firm in his mid-20s (yes, in his mid-20s. I know, insane)
But success like that cuts both ways.
And Gian struggled with many of the classic issues hyper-focused overachievers tend to suffer from:
- Chronic stress
- Elevated heart rate
- Sleep issues
- Imposter syndrome
- Social anxiety in groups
- Burnout
All of which bled over into his performance, binding his mind and blocking his progress.
So we got to work.
Just three days after we made our initial round of adjustments to Gian’s performance habits, he sent me this text:

So that’s cool.
(side note: HRV — heart rate variability — is one tangible way to measure your internal development; how well you regulate your nervous system is a direct reflection of the strength and health of your mind)
But not as cool as what happened next…
After a month of coaching and implementation, Gian sent me this message:
I hosted a 120+ person event with a few other investors last night, and felt completely at ease.
People were actively reaching out for follow-up… They’d see me from across the room and come up to me, which isn’t really something I’d experienced before.
Nice to see how all of this energy attracts the right people.
It feels like I was in flow.
These types of conversations used to drain me emotionally, and leave me feeling like I had to put on a show or present myself in a certain way.
Frankly, I had a LOT of fun and felt very validated for what I brought to the table. It went until 10 pm and was almost sad to end it.
I share Gian’s story for one simple reason:
Although internal development can be tricky to track…
(it’s much harder to measure than money or bodyfat or weight on the bar)
…When results do come — and they do — they feel deeper and more profound than any bank balance, because they change something far more fundamental:
Your very experience of being yourself.
And Gian’s experience…
…Hosting 120+ top-tier investors, navigating high-stakes networking opportunities in a smooth, effortless flow state, attracting people and opportunities without trying, feeling his bindings release into true self-expression…
…Is real, experiential proof that his deeper potential is finally being actualized.
So, while it may be harder to track:
You know internal progress when you feel it.
And so does everyone else around you.
Gian:
Well done, brother.
Now, we continue…

We’re waiting for you.
