“Dawn is born at midnight.” – Carl Jung

By the time you read this, we will be 48 hours out from the start of our fourth annual summer retreat:

My favorite week of the year.

Afterwards, I’m forcing myself to take a non-negotiable week off — which, if I’m smart, might end up being two weeks.

So this, very likely, is our final email of the summer.

I’ve got three of our best Path posts from the past few weeks lined up below, along with three recommendations to ride out the summer with.

Let’s make ‘em count:

Explosive Attraction Is A Warning Sign
via. Annie Lalla

Here’s something that might surprise you about romance…

You know that one person you can’t stop thinking about?

The one who makes your heart race and keeps you up at night obsessing?

The one that captivates your fantasies?

This kind of explosive chemistry might actually be a warning sign.

The strongest chemistry often signals two people’s wounds “hooking together” -rather than healthy love and lasting compatibility.

It’s like two broken puzzle pieces appearing to fit perfectly…cuz they’re damaged in exactly matching spots.

Real, sustainable attraction often starts as neutral-to-positive allure, then grows deeper & deeper over time.

Think “slow burn” instead of “instant inferno.”

This doesn’t mean settling for someone who doesn’t inspire you or turn you on.

It means looking beyond the surface-level fireworks to see if this person actually helps you become the best version of yourself.

The purpose of a relationship is to help you fall more in love with yourself, your life, and the world. Never settle for anything less.

AI Is Just A Tool
shared by Josh Plante

Looking at social media these days, it seems that everyone’s treating AI like it’s some kind of magic wand.

But it’s not. It’s just a tool. A very powerful one, sure, but still just a tool.

And like any tool, it’s only as useful as the person wielding it.

If you don’t deeply understand the problem you’re trying to solve, no amount of clever prompts or fancy APIs will get you there.

It’s like walking into a construction site with a power drill and no idea what you’re building.

You’ll feel productive for a while, but you’re mostly just making noise.

There are no participation trophies in business
by Taylor

If you are a beginner, you cannot be satisfied with a beginner-level effort, because you are competing with intermediate and advanced businesses.

The market doesn’t care how hard you tried, they only care about who will deliver the best results.

So:

Do not settle.

Keep making it sharper, clearer, better.

Then, make it even better than that.

Push harder than you think you need to, and push your bar for quality higher than you think it needs to be.

You will be rewarded for your efforts.

That’s a wrap!

Have an amazing finish to your summer, and I look forward to catching up on the other side.

P.S. As promised, here are…

3 things to make your summer better
What to read, watch, and learn this August.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
Perfect novel for lazy end of summer reading, from the author of The Martian (also highly recommended). Will be turned into a movie soon. I’m loving it so far.

Tokyo Vice – HBO
This show fxcking bangs. American journalist moves to Tokyo, gets tangled up with the Yakuza, almost dies multiple times, lives to tell the tale. So good.

Theo Von & Sam Altman
Theo interviews OpenAI CEO about the future of AI. Thought provoking and very easy to listen to.

BONUS: Muhammad Ali’s Most Iconic Workout
Legendary.

“Somewhere, right at the bottom of one’s own being, one generally does know where one should go and what one should do. But there are times when the clown we call “I” behaves in such a distracting fashion that the inner voice cannot make its presence felt.” – Carl Jung
